Summary
"Nana, What's Cancer?"
Beverlye Hyman Fead and her 11-year-old granddaughter, Tessa Mae Hamermesh, discuss the dreaded c-word in a open conversation. The book is written in short chapters where Tessa poses questions to her Nana, and Fead, a stage four cancer survivor, answers. Not meant for really young children who might not understand an issue like abnormal cell division, this is probably best understood by children 10 and older. The illustrated hardback (American Cancer Society; $14.95) not only tells the story of Fead and her granddaughter but provides a glossary of terms that would help the reader have a conversation with someone in their family.See the full content of this document
