Vaccine Is Slow to Arrive Flu: First H1n1 Doses Expected This Week; Demand to Outstrip Supply.

With the public clamoring for the swine flu vaccine, Los Angeles County health officials said Tuesday they expect to receive the first batch this week but warned the bulk of the supply won't arrive until later this month as the pandemic worsens.

County Public Health Director Jonathan E. Fielding said 80,000 to 90,000 doses of FluMist nasal spray vaccine are expected to arrive within the next day or two - just a fraction of the 5.5 million injection doses the county expects to receive. More than 3,000 doctors and other health care providers have ordered the vaccine.
