When the Viewpoint of Calabasas boys' swim team left the Southern Section Div. IV championship meet last season, the Patriots quickly realized all that was separating them from winning the program's first title: speed.

Although Jared Stern finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and anchored the Patriots to victory in the 400 free relay, Viewpoint didn't score in the 50 free or the 200 free relay and finished runner-up to Patriot of Riverside by 91/2 points.
